Ten days of lights, noise and spinning rides. During the Hoorn Funfair, around seventy attractions are set up right in the heart of the historic town centre. From gentle spins to thrilling head-over-heels rides. And, of course, the festivities end with the traditional Lappendag.
From Saturday 8 to Monday 17 August 2026, Hoorn’s town centre will once again be buzzing with activity. During the 580th edition of Kermis Hoorn , around seventy attractions will fill the streets and squares. From children’s attractions and games to thrilling rides for those with strong stomachs.
The funfair is right in the middle of the historic buildings. That’s what makes it just that bit different. You walk straight from the high street straight into the merry-go-round. A little further on, daredevils are flying through the air. And those who prefer to keep both feet on the ground can grab a tasty treat from one of the stalls.
There’s plenty on the programme for ten days. On Tuesday afternoon, the funfair tones things down a notch during the low-stimulus funfair. Lights flash less frequently, music is turned down and rides operate more slowly. This means that even those who are sensitive to stimuli can enjoy the funfair.

Wednesday is family day, with reduced ride prices, face painting, glitter and well-known children’s characters in the town. On Friday evening, fireworks light up the sky above the Westerdijk. So keep your head up – that’ll save you a stiff neck on the rides.
On Monday 17 August, Hoorn rounds off the festivities with Lappendag. From early in the morning, hundreds of market stalls and street traders line the town centre. Bargain hunting, enjoying the fair and heading to the pubs and restaurants: so you’ll need to set your alarm quite early.
