Friday 18 September
On Friday 18 September, Jam en Zo will be all about healthy soil, good food and everything that grows in between. On the day, you can choose from three different activities: two guided tours and an interactive talk.
From healthy soil to strong plants. From flowers to bees. And from fruit and vegetables to something delicious on your plate. During this guided tour, Thessa Bruijns takes you on a tour of the Jam en Zo farmyard.
You’ll discover how everything is connected. Take a look at the orchard, vegetable garden and herb garden, and learn more about composting, biodiversity and pollination. You’ll also visit the apiary, where you’ll find out why honeybees and wild bees are so important to the farmyard.
Along the way, you can sample small bites from local produce. There’s also a honey tasting session featuring pure honey from our own apiary.

You’re welcome to have a look. And a taste, too. During the educational tour ‘Delicacies from the Garden’, you’ll discover all that the West Frisian soil has to offer.
Thessa from Jam en Zo takes you on a tour of the orchard, fruit garden and vegetable garden. You’ll also get a glimpse into the apiary. Along the way, she talks about healthy soil, lovely produce and the importance of bees and pollination.
Just listening? Not at all. During the walk, you’ll get to sample various snacks from the garden. That way, you’ll get a real taste of what’s growing on the farm.
Practical information
What’s actually going on beneath your feet? During Nicky Daniels’ interactive talk, you’ll delve into the ground – figuratively speaking, that is.
You’ll learn more about healthy soil, composting, soil life and natural processes. You’ll also discover how compost and soil health contribute to strong plants and healthy food.
There is also an opportunity to learn about soil. Take a close-up look at soil life through a microscope or telescope. Snacks from the garden are included.
