What to expect.

You step inside a church dating from 1884, built on the site of an older late-Gothic church. The tower is even older, dating back to the 16th century. Inside, you’ll find, amongst other things, a richly carved pew from 1641, brass crowns and an organ from 1885. This isn’t just decorative flair; it’s simply history that has stood the test of time.

Our tip for your visit

After your visit, do take a stroll through Aartswoud itself. From the West Frisian Omringdijk, the square church tower stands out clearly. Aartswoud used to lie on the Zuiderzee, and that tower was part of the view from the water. That makes looking at it just that little bit different.
