Looking for something special or just enjoy shopping without a goal? In Westfriesland, there are many places to get your shopping fix.
Have a lovely wander through the beautiful streets of Medemblik and marvel at the many little shops. How about a fantastic interior design shop or an organic speciality shop? Or that lovely fashion boutique, bookshop or gift shop? You’ll find all of this close together in the beautiful historic town centre, where there are also plenty of cafés and restaurants to take a break and recharge your batteries between all the shopping delights. Medemblik may not have the largest shopping area, but it certainly has everything you could wish for!
Hoorn city centre is the place to go for great shopping. You have everything, and then you also walk among historic buildings. If you want to take in (almost) all shops, go for the famous 'shopping tour', which includes Kleine Noord, Gedempte Turfhaven, Gouw and Grote Noord. You'll pass large clothes shops and small boutiques. Also definitely not to be missed, because it is very atmospheric: the Hoornse straatjes. No chains here, but artisanal shops and speciality shops. Between the Grote Kerk and the Koepelkerk, you wander from boutique to beauty salon, from art gallery to children's shoe shop and from coffee shop to second-hand bookshop.
In the centre of Enkhuizen , you’ll find yourself practically tripping over all sorts of quirky little shops. Take, for instance, the many places where you can find the loveliest home accessories, ranging from modern to second-hand. Cheese, delicatessen items, bread, coffee… there are specialist shops for these too. Prefer shopping for clothes? Then too: welcome to Enkhuizen. An added bonus is that many shops are housed in beautiful, historic buildings. And let’s not forget the many lovely little restaurants where you can pop in during the day for a coffee, a cup of tea or lunch.
Shopping centre Vijverhof in De Goorn offers oh so much: cheese, bread, delicacies, clothes, jewellery, flowers, books.... You can also go to the jeweller, drugstore or hairdresser. Or slide into the cafeteria.
Shopping in Hoogwoud? You can do so at the large garden centre De Boet and several cheese dairies. Also nice: the shopping centre in Spanbroek.
The Reigerspassage in Hoogkarspel is a great place for your daily shopping, a new outfit, gifts, jewellery and more. Need a haircut? Is also possible. Take an instant tour of the shopping centre.
Winkelhart Zwaagdijk is located near Hoorn. This compact shopping centre offers easy parking and everything is conveniently close together. Do your shopping, pick out a new wardrobe, choose a new pair of glasses or get inspiration for your home at the interior design shops.
Every village has its charm, including in terms of shopping. Especially in the picturesque villages, you can still find real local shops. From boutique to supermarket, from hairdresser to beauty salon. Ask the locals or discover them while cycling or walking through the villages.
Do make a day of it and visit the Streekhof in Stede Broec. In this indoor shopping centre, you’ll find a whole host of things under one roof. Think of clothes and shoe shops, chemists and a bookshop. But also: specialist shops for gifts, cheese, coffee and tea. You can give your legs a rest in one of the cosy cafés or lunch spots, or on one of the terraces.

Keep the memory of your stay in Westfriesland extra long by taking home a regional product. Also does well as a gift.
