Just outside Hoogwoud stands the West-Frisia Museum Farm. A traditional thatched farmhouse dating from 1857, set in the heart of the West Frisian countryside. Inside, time seems to have stood still. The farm is furnished as if it were still a working home.
Step over the threshold and you’ll find yourself transported to another era. This listed farmhouse offers a glimpse into what life was like in the West Frisian countryside.
No bare display cases with just a few signs. The rooms are furnished as if the residents have simply stepped outside for a moment. Kettles by the fireplace, an old wash tub and items from everyday farm life: it’s all just there.
The collection now comprises more than 3,000 items – plenty to keep you pottering about for a while.

The museum farm is situated on a cycle route through the West Frisian countryside and is an official rest stop. So, are you out cycling? Then this is a lovely spot to stop for a while.
In the Kapberg, you’ll find a cosy café. From there, you can look out over the surrounding meadows.
The museum is accessible to visitors using a wheelchair or walking frame and has a disabled toilet.
Groups are also welcome at the museum farm. Guided tours are available for groups of between eight and 35 people. These can be arranged by appointment throughout the year.
The Kapberg can also be booked for events such as meetings, workshops or parties. Lunch can also be arranged on request.

Open from Easter Monday until Open Monument Day in September.
