At Opmeer Boat Hire, you can hire a boat for a day’s sailing through Westfriesland. Whether it’s just the two of you, the family or a large group, there are various boats available. You don’t need a sailing licence, but someone aged 18 or over must be at the helm.
From the jetty in Opmeer , you can set sail straight onto the West Frisian waters. Opmeer Boat Hire has mapped out short and longer routes. These include routes for families and routes past historic sites. On departure, you’ll receive information about the area and the options available along the way.
Not an experienced skipper? No problem. No sailing licence is required for the hire boats. If you’d rather not steer the boat yourself at all, you can also enquire about a skipper when making your booking.
Take to the water with the family or a whole group of friendsOpmeer Boat Hire has a range of boats for small and larger groups. The smallest boat, De Volharding, can accommodate six people. For larger groups, there are more spacious boats, and it is also possible to book two boats together.

Good to know: babies, children and dogs all count towards the maximum number of people on board. So your dog is welcome to come along. Just do keep them off the cushions.
A whole day out on your ownThe boats are hired on a full-day basis. You can set off from 09.30 and sail until 19.30 at the latest. A later start is possible by arrangement, but the hire price remains the same. Fuel is included for normal use.
Fancy mooring somewhere along the way, taking a picnic with you, or simply drifting along at a leisurely pace? That’s entirely up to you. There’s plenty of time.

Rental prices currently start at €195 per day for De Volharding. A deposit of €250 per booking is required, and fuel is included for normal use. Free parking is available in the parking bays on Koninginneweg.
No. You do not need a boat licence for the hire boats. The minimum age for driving the boat yourself is 18.
Yes. There are various pre-planned sailing routes on board the boat. Upon departure, you’ll also receive an explanation of the routes and the surrounding area.
Yes. When making a booking, you can enquire about a skipper. Opmeer Boat Hire advises contacting them in advance to check availability.
Yes. Dogs are allowed on board and count as one person towards the maximum capacity. Dogs are not allowed on the cushions, and the boat must be returned free of dog hair.
