Camping Boven ‘t Maaiveld

A little paradise for bird lovers

Camping Boven ‘t Maaiveld is situated on the outskirts of Hoogwoud, right between the North Sea and the IJsselmeer. In 2021, Kees and Janneke’s long-cherished dream came true: their very own campsite, designed entirely according to their own wishes and ideas. A relaxed, slightly quirky holiday spot with plenty of scope for adventure and socialising.

Camping with character

You can choose from 54 spacious camping pitches with electricity, a fully equipped bell tent or one of the four rental accommodations, including a tiny house. The toilet facilities are brand new. Dogs are very welcome. This isn’t a place for glitzy camping frills, but for those who love camping with character.

The greenhouse as the beating heart

At the heart of the site is the greenhouse, a cosy living room with a coffee bar, where chips or a pizza are sometimes cooked in the evenings. Outside, you can smell the wood smoke from the campfire and look out over the fields. Sometimes you might join in with a performance in the Orangery or enjoy a beer with some local cheese.

Useful information

The campsite opens every year on 17 April. During the high season, you’ll often find the owners in the greenhouse; if they’re not there, or in an emergency, you can ring the campsite number or knock at the farmhouse. A camping pitch costs from €22 per night, and rental accommodation from €75.

Our tip

Bring something warm with you for the evening. During the day it’s lovely to sit outside, but it cools down quickly in the evenings out in the fields.
