Practical information
Count on a whole day if you want to see the 't Zuiderzeeedorp and Schathuys quietly. The museum consists of two locations within walking distance of each other. If you come by car, follow the signs to the entrance pavilion at Sluisweg 1. From there, take the museum ferry to 't Zuiderzeeedorp. There is limited parking at the Schathuys. Dogs and other pets are not allowed. Only guide dogs and official assistance dogs are allowed. The Museum is partly accessible: the Schathuys has lifts and 't Zuiderzeedorp is largely accessible, but old streets and buildings remain sometimes difficult. There is no clear information online about dietary options.
When are you welcome?
The museum is open daily from 10am to 5pm. Do check in advance which part is open. The outdoor museum works with seasons.

Our tip for your visit
Take the museum ferry from the railway station or Sluisweg 1. That way, your visit already starts on the water. And that fits in better here than looking for a parking spot at the Wierdijk.

What a lovely place to wander around. You walk past old houses, workshops and ships. All the while, you can hear the blacksmith at work and smell the smoked fish. The boat trip rounds off the day perfectly. History boring? Not here, that’s for sure.
The museum comprises the Schathuys and ’t Zuiderzeedorp. Inside, you’ll find traditional costumes, model ships, art and everyday objects, amongst other things. Outside, you can stroll past more than 140 historic buildings from towns around the former Zuiderzee.
Absolutely. Children can wander through the historic village and watch craftspeople at work. Think of the blacksmith, rope-maker, sail-maker and fish-smoker. You’re welcome to watch, but you don’t have to sit still.
By car, drive to the entrance pavilion on Sluisweg. There, board the museum ferry to ’t Zuiderzeedorp. From Enkhuizen station, you can walk or take the ferry as well. A grand entrance across the water, just as it should be.
