What to expect.
You board an electric sloop and glide peacefully through Hoorn. The water laps against the quay. The skipper points out façades, bridges and spots you might otherwise walk right past. Before 12 noon, coffee or tea is served on board. Later in the day, beer, wine and soft drinks are available. All included as standard with the regular boat tour.
Practical information
A standard sightseeing cruise lasts about an hour. For private cruises, the duration is agreed in advance. Hoorn Water Taxi operates open, electric sloops and has blankets and umbrellas on board. Parking is available at several locations in Hoorn; a boarding point is often just a short walk away. The jetties have a handrail and gentle steps. Dogs appear to be welcome on board, but please check this in advance when making your booking. Drinks are included on board during the standard boat tour. Dietary requirements or catering can be discussed in advance for a private tour.
When are you welcome?
Sailing times depend on the weather and the season. Regular sightseeing cruises and water taxi journeys must be booked in advance. In the event of bad weather, Watertaxi Hoorn will contact you to reschedule or cancel.
You can join a boat tour through the historic harbours of Hoorn. The tour lasts about an hour and takes you past places such as the Hoofdtoren, Oostereiland and the Vismarkt. Along the way, the skipper shares stories about the town.
Hoorn Water Taxi has several boarding points in and around the historic city centre. On a private boat tour, you can choose a suitable boarding point yourself, for example at Oostereiland, the Vismarkt or the Stadsstrand.
Yes, you can hire an electric electric boat for up to eight people. You do not need a boating licence for this. The boarding point is at Schuijteskade 21 on Oostereiland.
