Snouck van Loosen Park is a historic residential estate and listed garden village in Enkhuizen. The park was built in the late nineteenth century as one of the first social housing projects in the Netherlands. Set amongst the greenery, characteristic workers’ cottages are arranged around an elongated park layout.
The park is named after Margaretha Maria Snouck van Loosen, a wealthy resident of Enkhuizen. Upon her death in 1885, she bequeathed money for charitable causes. Part of the money was used to build homes for working-class families. Her name was literally given a place in the town.
You can visit the public park for free whilst taking a stroll through Enkhuizen. No admission ticket or booking is required. It is not a gated attraction, but a historic residential park. This means you can easily pop in for a quick look whilst out for a walk around town.
