Blotevoetenpad Gouwe Voeten

Book your walk

Shoes off, socks off, go. At Gouwe Voeten, you walk on grass, mud, wood, water and other natural surfaces. Just with your bare feet on West Frisian soil. Fresh, earthy and sometimes nice and dirty. Exactly the intention.

Who is this a good site for?

Gouwe Voeten is a go-to place for families, groups of friends and school classes. Also, if you just want to get out of your head, you're in the right place. You walk outside, feel the ground and do something different. Without any complicated fuss.

When will you visit here?

Visit on a dry afternoon in spring or summer. That's when the grass feels soft, the mud just fresh and the water just right. The trail will be open in 2026 from Saturday 4 April to Sunday 27 September.

What to expect.

You walk without shoes over grass, sand, mud, bark, boulders, wood and water. Along the way, you encounter obstacles such as tree trunks, a wobbly bridge and stretches through water. Rather go around something? Some obstacles simply allow you to do so. And yes, you will get dirty feet. That's no mistake here....

Practical information

For the barefoot path, you will be on the road for about 1.5 to 2 hours. The path is located at De Gouwe Stek in Bovenkarspel, in the middle of greenery. Prams are not suitable for the path; a sling is more convenient if you come with small children. Parking is available on site, but reserve your parking ticket too. Without a ticket, you won't get through the barrier. Afterwards, you can get something to drink, an ice cream or a cake at the reception. Picnicking on the path is not allowed, bringing a bottle of water is. Dogs are not allowed according to DagjeWeg.NL and the path is not accessible for people with physical disabilities.

When are you welcome?

Outside the May and summer holidays, you can visit on Wednesday and Friday afternoons, and on weekends. During the May and summer holidays, Gouwe Voeten is open more often, usually starting in the morning. The box office is closed between 12 noon and 1pm, but you can buy tickets online then. Public holidays often have Sunday opening hours.

Our tip for your visit

Bring clean clothes and a towel. Especially for children. In warm weather, swimwear is smart, as splashing is just part of the deal here.
