At RIJO Boat Hire, you can set off straight into the polder. In a motorboat or Canadian canoe, you’ll glide past reed beds, meadows and narrow waterways. Just take the helm yourself. Take it easy, or head out with the wind in your hair.
Who is this a good site for?
For families, groups of friends and anglers who want to get out on the water themselves. It’s also a great way to see the polder from a different perspective. You don’t need a boating licence for motorboats.
When will you visit here?
Between mid-April and mid-September. On a dry morning, you set off at a leisurely pace. Later in the day, you’ll find more activity on the water.
What to expect.
You set off from Lutjebroek and sail through Het Grootslag. Reeds brush against the bank. Birds dart away amongst the willows. With a route guide, you can sail towards Enkhuizen , past the ramparts or through the town centre. On the way back, you’ll sail past the villages. There’s no rush. Just make sure to steer carefully.

You can hire a motorboat or Canadian canoe for half a day or a full day on the water. The boats operate between 9.00 and 18.00. Prices do not include fuel. The deposit is €50 and must be paid in advance. Parking is available at or near the hire location. You can order food and drink in advance, such as coffee with currant bread or a picnic basket.

Bring clothes that can withstand a splash of water. Smart, light-coloured trousers? Leave them at home.
