Right in the centre of Hoogkarspel stands a water tower that’s hard to miss. Red brick, nearly fifty metres high and a prominent feature of the village landscape. It’s not the sort of place you’d go for a tour inside, but it’s perfect for a quick stop to look up at it.

You’ll see a sturdy water tower dating from 1930. The tower is built of red brick, on a dodecagonal ground plan. Its shape is reminiscent of the Amsterdam School. It used to store pressurised water. Now it mainly defines the skyline of Hoogkarspel. Quiet, sturdy and quite imposing.
Expect just a quick stop to have a look. The water tower stands on the Streekweg, right in the centre of Hoogkarspel. Parking is available nearby. The tower is not open to the public and has no visitor facilities.
