That’s when you hear the mechanism at work. The Overhaal was restored in 1993 and is now used for recreational boating. That old machinery is really something.

Set aside a little time for a visit to De Overhaal. It’s an outdoor spot by the harbour, with no entrance building or catering facilities. Parking is available in the surrounding area, but do check on the spot what’s permitted. Dogs are allowed in public spaces, provided they’re kept on a lead.
